Kintsugi — the craft and the idea of repair
Kintsugi joins broken ceramics with lacquer, with the repaired seams often finished in metal powder. The repair remains visible: part of the object's history.
At Kintsugi Gallery, repair is also a way of thinking about art, continuity and change. The material craft and its use as an artistic metaphor each deserve care.

Denys Rzhavskyi has been accepted for the four-week 2027 Kintsugi Residency at Toma House AIR in Nara, Japan. He will study traditional urushi-based kintsugi and maki-e as part of The Art of Repair — Kintsugi Between Japan and Ukraine.
This is a forthcoming period of study. Work and reflections will follow the residency.
