The story

Geta are not only shoes. They are a way of walking differently — they change posture, rhythm, balance, and the sound the foot makes on the road.

Our pairs are made in Ubud, Bali, by a single woodworker we have worked with since 2024. Each pair is cut from a single block, dried in the sun for two weeks, then finished by hand. The black cotton thong is tied in the traditional Japanese way, not glued.

A pair of geta is a small ritual object. It belongs in a doorway, then on the road, then in the entrance hall again. We make 77 pairs at a time. When the edition is finished, the next one will be slightly different.
